How to Improve Your Business Social Media Experience

1 July, 2013

As social media continues to grow and become an important tool for clients, customers, and markets in the business world, it is a must that any business know how to take advantage of it. By not knowing how to use social media to its advantage, businesses are essentially not wanting to put their name out where everyone can talk and know more about it. If you want to know what you can do in order to improve your business’ social media experience, here’s what you need to do.

People Don’t Seem To Be Interacting

Whether you’re on Facebook or Twitter, if you are constantly updating your feeds and you aren’t getting response, it’s time to switch things up. Make sure that you are posting by asking questions—questions that requires their feedback. It also helps to keep your status one to two sentences long. No one is going to read a long summary post for no reasons.

Same goes for the views on your videos. If your video is short and on point, there should be no doubt that someone will be commenting on it. More importantly, don’t just post your videos on one social booking directories. There are many out there such as Vimeo.com, TrafficGeyser.com, Uppfly.com and many more. Do a simple Google search because although YouTube is great, it isn’t your only answer.

Also make sure to add some kind of special element like a content at the end of your video. Doing so can elicit interactions.

There Are Way Too Many Social Sites Out There!

We agree, there are way too much and it would be close to impossible to stay on top of all of them. The question you need to ask yourself is ‘which particular site does my type of potential use more often’. Nowadays people are using Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. You are not required to sign up on all of these social sites, but when a customer starts searching for you and don’t find you, you are missing an opportunity.

By not showing your presence in a particular social site, you are basically sending them a message that you do not want to listen to do. Again, you do not need to sign up on all social sites. However, you must realize the big opportunity that you are missing by not being able to connect with the media and people. Think of it this way, if you were to try and spread the words around about your business, it is much easier to open an online account with a social site than to attend a convention or two.

Not A Very Social Person?

Neither are we. This doesn’t mean you just put it off, it means you hire someone to do the socializing for you (and your business). Or you can always depend on other people’s postings and videos that relates to your business. For instance, your business may be able floor mats and you happen to find a video content about it, make sure you gain permission to use it on your site.

Even if you aren’t a social person in general, it doesn’t hurt to put social bookmarking link on your website. Whether you decide to spread the word or not, if someone sees what they like, all they have to do is click on the link and just like that, they’ll be able to spread the words for you to their friends.

Blogging Is Also A Form Of Interaction

Keep your customers and potential customers updated by keep a blog of your business. Tell them what is happening and how things are going inside. They want to feel like they are important to your business.

If you find yourself having trouble with lack of blog comments, make sure that the post is not too long—try to keep it around 750 words. Also make sure that your blog implies for their interactions and not just you rambling on about how the day is great. If you do ramble on about the day, make sure you ask them about theirs as well!

To also gain recognition on blog interaction, there are a few blog directories that you can sign up under that will relate to your website. One of them is technorati.com, and they let you describe your blog description and let you add in tags.

If you have any other social media experiences that you would like to add in, feel free to leave a comment!
