What Are You Willing to Sacrifice to Have Money

24 October, 2013

A wise man once said, “Money isn’t the most important thing in life, but it’s reasonably close to oxygen on the ‘gotta have it’ scale.” – Zig Ziglar.
When it comes to living, most everything requires money. Unless you want to pitch a tent…….well that would require money. You might need to cut some lumber to make then. Of course what would you cut the wood with? I know we could certainly survive without money in most parts of the world, but you get the point. In our society, money is vital to our existence and how much you have of it, determines the life that you will lead. So much so, that people rarely do work that they enjoy, they typically choose a line of work that will afford them the best living.
The “replicators” available in Star Trek are not at our disposal yet, so while we require money still, why not make the most of what we have? I don’t believe you have to make a lot of money to have money. I meet people all of the time who earn a lot of money and those who don’t make much at all, but both share the constant need and lack of money. Why?
The problem is not the lack of money, the problem is the choices we make with the money that we do have. If you are not happy with the money that you make, there are ways to fix that, but that is for a different day and a different author, I want to talk about the money that you do have. I hear claims from people who “donot have any money” as they text me from their iPhone. Don’t get me wrong I am not against technology or nice things, but don’t tell me you don’t have money, when in reality, you are simply giving it all way to other people. Put your goals on paper. Do the math and figure out what it will take to make those goals happen and make the sacrifices needed to achieve them. Any successful person will tell you it takes sacrifice to get there. What are you willing to sacrifice?
Being successful with your money requires a plan, discipline and perseverance.
